COLOR
Color is the theme of September’s 2021 Artists’ Cooperative Gallery’s Feature Show by long time Coop members, Margie Schimenti, Richard Markoff, and Virginia Ocken. The exhibit will run from August 31 to September 26. The Artists will be present at the First Friday Opening, September 3.

A high key color scheme will be found in Virginia’s series which includes a female nude, a city scape, mountain scenes and abstracts. Secondary colors Orange and violet take the stage in Silent Secrets, where stylized pillars and pigeons whisper their secret stories. The primary colors yellow, red and blue work well in her cityscapes and abstracts. Virginia is a Council Bluffs Artist and retired teacher.

Richard Markoff loves to paint in a series. He is forced into making major changes to rearrange, re-engage and refocus himself. In this series he says “he has been challenged to invent unique ways to use techniques and Color”. A long- time member of the coop and a past Omaha art teacher, he is constantly striving to become a better artist!

Margie Schimenti repurposes images and materials to create mixed media constructions. This year’s work incorporates photos of New York City, household items and collected tokens. Margie shows us that beauty and art can be found from the most mundane small objects to our most notable and colorful cities. Margie has also been a long- time teacher in Omaha.
