November Feature Exhibition
During the month of November, the Artists Cooperative Gallery will feature the work of two member artists - Nicki Byram and Inna Kulagina. The show runs November 1-27, 2022. Please join us at the opening reception, Friday, November 4, 6 to 9 p.m.
Nicki is an intuitive artist, seldom having a firm idea of what she is going to paint beforehand. She paints quickly, with very little revision. This year’s paintings might be titled “2022”, a turbulence of rain, wind, politics and floods. Flow State is a meditative state of mind, which results in the body going into “auto pilot," producing full involvement without conscious thought. This energized focus is found in athletes, artists, yoga practitioners and musicians.
Inna's work in this exhibition focuses on the Garden of Eden, which is the story of a perfect place, of supreme happiness, perfect contentment and fulfillment, where everyone is at peace with one another. It is without knowledge of choice and free will – meditation upon good and evil – the conflict. “The Fall” from the state of perfection into the state of making choice, the state of free will. We are all born to love one other, but people constantly choose to take away something that is not theirs, like Russia is trying to take over part or all of Ukraine. Cain is trying to suffocate Abel again. People need to make the right choice, which is to love one another.
