During the month of January, the Artists Cooperative Gallery will feature the work of four new member artists - Gregory D. Brown, Jacqueline Eihausen, Viy Lahowetz, and Gretchen Olberding. The show runs January 3-29, 2023. Please join us at the opening reception on Friday, January 6, 6 to 9 p.m.
Greg works as a commercial videographer, but his personal creative outlet is photography - challenging himself to tell stories through single frame photos.
Jacqueline works to marry together layers. Layers of color that both partially block and then also reveal. Layers of the printed pattern or photograph with the painted image, back and forth. Is the whole greater than the sum of its parts?
VIY focuses on the materiality and history of objects, breaking them down in order to understand them so they can be reconfigured and re-contextualized as art objects. Interested in refuse and refusal, creating work from their own trash and items discarded by others, seeing these items as full of artistic potential.
Gretchen is artistically inspired by nature. With her own photography or being on site (plein air), she hopes to capture the feeling, moods, lights and shadows of nature in a painterly, impressionistic style. She hopes that people will look at her paintings and say “I want to walk into that scene and rest there awhile.”
