During the month of January, the Artists' Cooperative Gallery will feature the work of member artists Vince Martin and Gretchen Olberding. The show runs January 2–28, 2024. Please join us at the opening reception on Friday, January 5, 5 to 9 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
Vince primarily does abstract paintings and works mainly with acrylic on canvas. He gets his inspiration from past memories, travels, and life experiences. However, the main source of his inspiration comes from the Holy Spirit. Before he begins to paint, he says a prayer to the Holy Spirit and turns on some music and begins to work.
Gretchen loves to explore how she might re-interpret nature's landscapes – her rivers, trees and animals – in an impressionistic or abstracted realism style. Painting out in nature (called "plein-air") gives her a chance to really see how light and shadows dance across the land. She does not limit herself to one style, medium or concept, and plays in all of them. Her Animal Spirit Shamans (clay sculptures) were influenced by a trip to Mesa Verde National Park where the petroglyphs left an indelible impression on her.
The Artists' Cooperative Gallery has been showing work from respected area artists since 1975. Members conduct educational and cultural outreach activities, and maintain and staff the gallery. The space features a wide variety of media, including sculpture, weaving, painting, jewelry, ceramics, photography and drawing. These openings provide the public with an opportunity to meet our members and learn more about their art.
Our hours are...Tuesday - Thursday,11am-5pm, Friday-Saturday from 11am-10pm, and Sundays 11am-5pm.
