During the month of August, the Artists' Cooperative Gallery will feature the work of member artists Cindia Carlson, George Skuodas, and Dar VandeVoort. The show runs July 30–August 31, 2024. Please join us at the opening reception on Friday, August 2, 6 to 9 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
Contemplation on purpose and destiny has driven Cindia's lifelong quest for answers. She began searching for places and objects that might visually represent abstract concepts and dream images. Through painting, drawing and sculpting, she has worked to create representations of what she has seen. Because there was always more to the story, she continued rehearsing the words to describe narratives of dreams, experiences, and the process of creativity by which she works.
George constantly experiments with characters to determine which assets will be used to invest the scarce materials used in his creations. The stockpile is gradually being depleted. More time will be needed to continue in the search – film at eleven.
Dar is happy to produce this body of work including her loved ones, twirling and somersaulting in the grassy fields. The pattern of the blue lace dress came from a small piece of metal off of an old dresser drawer. She enjoys painting what she knows and experimenting with the surfaces.
The Artists' Cooperative Gallery has been showing work from respected area artists since 1975. Members conduct educational and cultural outreach activities, and maintain and staff the gallery. The space features a wide variety of media, including sculpture, weaving, painting, jewelry, ceramics, photography and drawing. These openings provide the public with an opportunity to meet our members and learn more about their art.
