“MASK - QUERADE” EXHIBIT AT ACG IN MAY

“Mask - querade” a new art exhibit featuring two distinguished regional artists will open on Tues., May 4, 2021, at the Artists’ Cooperative Fine Arts Gallery (ACG).

Works by Jasmine Greenwaldt of Omaha and Cindy Rae Mathiasen of Council Bluffs will be shown and available for purchase at ACG, 405 S. 11th Street in Omaha’s historic Old Market. An opening “First Friday” reception with the artists is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m on Fri., May 7. Entrance is free.

The exhibit title is a nod to the many different colors, strokes, and textures of both artists, as well as to the gallery’s requirement to wear masks while visiting the gallery during the pandemic. Gallery hours are 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the hours are 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. There is free admission to the gallery.

Greenwaldt and Mathiasen are embracing these challenging times by offering visitors who see the exhibit an opportunity to explore the emotions of the time while escaping through the works of the artists.

Jasmine Greenwaldt has been in love with art since she can remember. In her creations, she strives for a combination of gentle serenity to contrast bold activity. Her art is featured at The Burkholder Project in Lincoln and The Jewell in Omaha’s Capitol District, as well as through her membership with AGC. In addition, as a Realtor, many of her paintings are displayed in homes and corporate collections.

Cindy Rae Mathiasen explores the relationship of self and nature with a focus on connection. Her paintings lean toward the abstract with each piece creating its own voice, often highlighted in gold leaf. In addition to her AGC membership, she is a member of Omaha Area Artists In., “Studio Serendipity” (at Hot Shops Center in Omaha), PACE in Council Bluffs, and the gallery of Ginger’s Hang Up in Omaha.
